Find Smart Moving Tips!
Your moving day is coming up fast. It’s time to start thinking about packing your belongings, what to bring and clearing out unneeded items before moving. While this may seem like a daunting task at first, there are several ways to make the process easier. So check out these smart moving tips to help you pack efficiently.
Get the packing supplies. Such as moving boxes, bubble wrap, packing foam, and packing tape. Make sure to use boxes that are designed for moving. Although they’re free, boxes obtained from grocery stores are not always clean and might not properly hold the weight of the items that you will be putting in them. In addition, varying box sizes can make loading more difficult.
Place heavy items in small boxes, and light items in bigger ones. Large boxes packed with heavy items not only make the job harder but also have a higher chance of breaking. Also, don’t leave empty spaces in the boxes. Fill any gaps with clothing, towels, or crushed packing paper. Movers often won’t move boxes that feel loosely packed or unbalanced.

Packing and Moving Clothing
Footwear may stay in shoe boxes and go in large size boxes. You can wrap shoes individually, then in pairs. Footwear should be cushioned to avoid damage occurring to high heels or ornaments. Do not pack heavy items on top of shoes.
Leave clothes on hangers and transport in wardrobe cartons. You may remove garments from the hanger, fold and place in a suitcase or lined box. Some lightweight clothing such as hosiery and lingerie may stay in dresser drawers.

Loose flatware may be wrapped either individually or in sets, in clear plastic or tissue. If the silverware is in a chest, you still may want to wrap the pieces individually and replace in the chest. Fill in all empty spaces in the chest with tissue paper or paper toweling.
Since air causes silver to tarnish, all silver pieces should go in fresh, clean tissue paper or plastic wrap. Silver bowls, tea sets and serving dishes you should carefully wrap as fragile items and pack the same as china.
Small and Large Appliances Moving
Small clocks, radios and similar items can stay the same carton, or with the linens. Wrap items individually using several pieces of paper, and place in the packed box with plenty of crushed paper. Large appliances must be serviced and dry before shipping. Be sure to discuss this with your residential movers.
